THE MUSES FOREVER SPEAK IN A WHISPER
The Muses forever speak in a whisper. No assertive tones, no exclamations, no shouts.
The Muses forever speak softly, in oblique, muffled phrases. Nothing sharply defined, no bold wording. Nothing but roundabout hints, cloaked, ambiguous, open to infinite interpretation.
The Muses forever offer no guidance, teach no morals, blaze no trails. They meander in mysterious ways, without goal or obvious purpose.
But when the cannons roar - the Muses may not fall silent. They must not bow to the merchants of death and the agents of havoc. They must not defer to the deadly roar of bombs and missiles.
When the cannons roar, the Muses must speak out, defend the innocent, point an accusing finger.
When the cannons roar, it is up to the Muses to cry their gentle protest, raise their voices in a song of life.
S.O.S ! ! ! - "The thing that is important is the thing that is not seen".
The Little Prince
Antoine de Saint Exupery
Behind everything that is visible, there is something greater: everything is a path, a gateway or a window opening up to something else
Upon this unhappy tract of land, where two peoples live by the sword, tragedy and hopelessness must not be permitted to weaken our will. When war rages, we overlook the child's view - a haunted regard full of hopelessness and the terror of death. That regard will pursue us to the end of time.
The path or gateway we want to open up is a pathway to life, to a better tomorrow, to a window of hope.
We appeal to you to help us promote a photography project entitled:
"The thing that is important is the thing that is not seen."
The project foresees distribution of 200 disposable cameras to children of the kindergartens of Southern Israel and the Gaza Strip.
The photographs the children will take will be collected up and printed in an album for commercial sale, with all proceeds dedicated to building and repairing kindergartens.
The originals will be put on display in a roving exhibition to go on tour in this country and worldwide.
Please contribute to the best of your ability, even if it is only the price of a single camera.

Desert Generation
THE DESERT GENERATION 40 Years of Occupation, 1967-2007 - Israeli and Palestinian Artists against the Occupation and for a Just Peace
On Tuesday, June 5, 2007 at 18:00, the 40th anniversary of the 1967 War, Israeli and Palestinian artists who oppose the occupation and continue to call for its immediate and negotiated end, will open a joint exhibition at the Artists House, Jerusalem. The exhibition will be presented for six days, closing on the June 10, 2007 at 19:00.
This six days exhibition will present hundreds of images sent via E-mail by artists from Israel, Palestine and around the world, in response to a call distributed on the Internet as a chain E-letter. All the images were printed in a homogenous A4 format and hanged upon the Artists’ House walls, with no selection or editing. The hundreds of images in the exhibition represent a generation of Israeli and Palestinian artists doomed to waste their best years in the desert of the occupation. Freedom of creation is un-divisional, and as long as the rights for self-expression are denied, both Israelis and Palestinians will not be free. The participants of this exhibition are artists of different ages and artistic perceptions, united under the call for the immediate ending to occupation and negotiation for Peace between the two nations. The DESERT GENERATION exhibition is the outcome of an initiation of artists and is not connected to any political movement.
Orgenizers: Larry Abramson, David Tartakover, Saliman Mantzur and David Reeb.
